Here are 12 electric cars that we believe will be among the best released in 2022 (in no particular order) — as well as a look at the mind-boggling models that are still yet to be released. 2022 is already shaping up to be huge for electric cars, as Tesla, Lucid, Nissan, Hyundai, Rivian, Ford, and more manufacturers are adding to their electric car lines. It is also looking like 2022 is going to bring us a lot of carmakers – both new and old – making the first EVs.

We know that Polestar 3 will make its debut in the next-generation of electric vehicle architecture, designed from the ground up by Hyundai Motor Group, and that it will be built around the electrodynamics of aerodynamics. Polestars first pure-electric offering was this, the Polestar 2 — an elegant SUV designed to challenge Jaguars I-Pace and Teslas Model 3. Power comes from a pair of electric motors producing 402bhp combined, fed by a 78kWh battery pack, which provides an claimed 292-mile range. Its Hyundai Group siblings are set to become the third on Gms BEV3 platform, arriving in 2022, and representing the beginning of Kias move towards a fully-electric lineup.

Kia recently shared its Hyundai Group sibling would come in 2022 with a 310-mile driving range. The EV6 is built on the same battery platform as the first one that debuted, so both cars will share similar specs. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is comfortable, reasonably priced, and fun to drive, plus has about 300 miles of range at its most efficient. It pairs a 90-kWh battery pack with a three-wheel-drive EV set-up, which produces 395bhp.

The vehicle is based on one of Niros highest-level Hybrid trim levels, so Kias e-Niro is nicely equipped. This SUV is comfortable, practical, and offers a lot of bang for your buck, making it one of the best all-round packages in todays EV market. It is one of the nicest-looking cars on the road; it pays tribute to the vehicle considered to be the modern classic; it drives well, and looks great.

The Polestar 2 may not have the top-end specs of the Polestar segments, but it is an easy one to like, and a good overall car. The Tesla Model 3 is a compact luxury sedan, competing against the likes of the Mercedes C-Class and the BMW 3-Series — it is an important segment that has wide mass appeal — and it is also one of the most compelling electric cars you can buy. The Ford Mustang Mach-E is one of the best driving electric cars, barring a super-expensive Porsche offering. Like luxurys EQS flagship, this new executive saloon uses Mercedes-Benzs advanced new all-electric-only platform, but promises to be far more affordable — relatively speaking, that is — at around PS60,000.

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB starts at $87,800 pre-road, giving local buyers an option for an all-seater, zero-emissions SUV under the $100,000 mark. Targeted at the upper-end of the electric hatchback market, the Mercedes EQE is a very compelling EV, and deserves to be considered an alternative to Teslas many buyers. With its refined styling and subtle splashes of colour, Mercedes-Benzs EQC is going to look great everywhere you drive it. As the EV version of BMWs popular X3 model, the iX3 should perform extremely well.

Priced at around PS82,000, Audis E-tron GT 11 includes excellent on-board technology, with a Vorsprung model coming at an extra PS25,000 on top, bringing electric power-adjustable seats with ventilation and massage functions, LED matrix headlights featuring Audis Laser Light Technology, adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving tech, and head-up display. The top-spec car also adds adaptive air suspension and four-wheel steering. The standard model comes equipped with 150kW electric motors in the back, 61.4kWh of battery, and an estimated range of around 380km in real-world use.

The front-wheel-drive variants are powered by single 150kW/310Nm EV motors up front, with the BYD Atto 3 62 claimed to reach 100km/h in just 7.3 seconds. Technically, Ioniq 7 will look like the rest of the E-GMP range, so expect a 77kWh battery pack and twin-motor, four-wheel-drive models capable of 577bhp–though this kind of performance is probably reserved for an Ioniq 6N edition tuned by the Korean firms increasingly ambitious performance division. The Ioniq 7 will be the second Hyundai model in the E-GMP range, taking the shape of a Tesla Model 3-rivalling EV hatchback.

Teslas says Nissans 2023 Ariya is designed for utility as a truck, but sportscar performance. The R1T has four electric motors, producing enough horsepower to rival many sports cars, but the ability to pull a 11,000-pound trailer makes it an excellent family car, ready for adventures. Canoo, a California-based electric automaker, has an all-purpose pickup truck with an electric workbench, toolbox, and extendable bed. An off-roader version, designed for adventure camping, is as tough as Rivians electric pickup.

Hyundai offers its smartly designed family-friendly Ioniq with various powertrains — including an all-electric version that costs PS30,950, post-government subsidy. Both models make use of a special new platform called the E-TNGA, which will be at the heart of an entire future line-up of EVs from Toyota and its luxury stablemate, Toyotas Lexus. Helping kickstart Genesiss transition into all-new EVs in 2022 is the GV60, the Genesiss first all-electric dedicated model, which will be built on Hyundai Motor Groups E-GMP platform.

DON’T GET SCAMMED OUT OF YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY!

Many companies ask for a deposit to lock you in, making it difficult to get a refund if they don’t pick up your car on time—or at all. If your car isn't picked up, they may delay the process until it’s nearly impossible to get your money back.
We often hear from customers who are left stranded by other companies that never show up, leaving them stuck with charges that their credit card company won’t reverse. As a result, they lose their deposits. We don’t require a deposit and won’t charge your card until the day we pick up your car.
